Have you ever wondered when the time comes to part with friends whether or not to say ‘keep in touch’?  I’ve found not to say this statement lightly especially since I’ve realized how difficult it is to really do just that.  Often I find that I can more easily stay connected with some people that I’ve met than others and there’s no way heuristic to determine who that may be.  Some people I’ve known for years I find hard to keep in touch with whereas others that I may have just met for a week is much easier.  Similarly, those living further away may be the ones that I connect with more than those close-by.  On the other hand, some people only require minimal contact to still feel very connected to each other wheres other groups of people may need more frequent updates.  Ultimately, a mutual effort is required and how well one keeps in touch depends on the level of effort and expectations.

Something I’ve been wanting to do for a while is to keep a running message board of what’s up with me.  Personally, I find journaling a very helpful way to process my thoughts and record experiences that I feel have affected my life.  Over the past 7 years, I’ve often looked back on what I’ve written and have laughed at my short-sightedness, shook my head at my stupidity, agreed in hindsight of good decisions, and wondered in awe of how prayers have been answered.  I can see how my character has developed and spiritually been transformed through the people I’ve met and experiences I’ve had, near and far.

In effort to keep others updated with me, I had a travel blog going in Winter 2007 during my exchange to Southeast Asia.  The purpose of this blog was more to share a bit of the on-the-ground things I was experiencing in a foreign culture and showcase some of the highlights of my trip.  Although it served its purpose for while I was away, this form of blogging wasn’t suitable for when I returned home and thus I had stopped updating people.

My hope for this new blog is to do more than just inform people near and far about my activities.  I want to share with you some bits and pieces of what I’d write in my personal journal and the journey that I am experiencing.  The past year has been the by far the craziest whirlwind I’ve been through with many joys and struggles as I prepare for graduation this Spring.  I hope that this might be a way for me to extend my hand to keeping in touch with you, whoever and wherever you may be, and to simply share stories that will probably not be the most well-written, but hopefully containing much sincerity, truth and most of all, a reflection of God’s work in my life and those around me.  Ask me if there’s more that you’d like to say and that’ll be a nice reminder for me that someone is actually reading this :P   Please feel free to share my blog with anyone else as there is nothing I will write to keep hidden from people.  Maybe I will meet some of you one day again or for the first time and then you can share your stories with me =)
